East Tennessee is full of mansions, but some of them stand out above the rest. Because of this, we’ve compiled a list of 6 East Tennessee mansions you didn’t know existed!
6 East Tennessee Mansions You Didn’t Know Existed
1) Stonecrest Manor
Stonecrest Manor is a beautiful 14,000sq ft mansion in Morristown, TN. Featuring an incredible 5 bedrooms & 9 bathrooms, this home spares absolutely no expense. The master suite takes up an entire wing of the main floor, which also features a rustic office, oversized dining, and a kitchen fit for any master chef. The kitchen then opens up to a beautiful great room showcasing one of the homes many fireplaces. The rest of the home continues to amaze with a separate mother-in-law suite on the second floor, a movie theater and safe room in the basement, and much, much more.
Windswept upon Cherokee is a bit different than the rest of the homes on this list. The Windswept mansion is actually part of large lakefront community, and the Windswept mansion serves as that neighborhood’s manor house. All of the property owners in Windswept get to use one of the 5 bedrooms for 5 nights out of the year. The Windswept Manor House is over 10,000sq ft with 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. The magnificent manor house also features a beautiful pool, tennis court, and basketball court for use by the Windswept community, as well as those using their allotted nights in the manor house.
One of the more unique properties on the list, Chattanooga’s Playboy Mansion, is an incredible relic of the past. Having been rundown and vandalized over the years, this stunning home at one point was booming with nightlife. From its tiki man entrance to its circular, pointed roof, nothing about this home should be considered normal. Coming in at just 5,600sq ft, most of the home was taken over by the HUGE in-door pool that was made in the shape of the Playboy bunny.
Showcasing an incredible 22,000sq ft and 11 bedrooms with 13 bathrooms, this home was magnificent in its heyday – hosting US Presidents and celebrities. The story behind the home, however, is a dark one. Built with money earned from bank fraud, Whirlwind was built in the early 1970s by banker and politician Jake Butcher. He wanted to spare no expense, and the original mansion had 40 rooms, a pool, tennis court, 7 car garage, and beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and Lake Butcher, named after the owner of Whirlwind Mansion. Converted into 5 luxury condos in the early 2000s, Whirlwind mansion now sits empty and decaying after bank repossession in 2011.
Villa Collina is the largest home in the state of Tennessee. Located near the heart of West Knoxville, Villa Collina is 40,250sq ft and features 8 bedrooms and 11 full bathrooms. It also has an additional 5 half bathrooms, a gourmet commercial kitchen, a 2,600sq ft wine cellar, a three-story library, both an indoor and outdoor pool, a fitness center, home theater, 6 car garage, secluded guest suite, and staff quarters. Overall, Villa Collina has 50 rooms. It was recently purchased and is now open for fundraising events. This home is truly magnificent, and every single inch of the is filled with complete luxury with no expense spared.
Wind Drift is a beautiful mansion in central East Tennessee. Built in an antebellum style, this estate truly does feel like home from the moment you step inside. Just over 6,000sq ft, this home features 4 bedrooms with 4.5 bathrooms, a beautiful gunite, saltwater pool, and a pool house with its own bathroom. The property itself is also a big feature of Wind Drift, as it has over 31 acres with a thirteen stall horse barn, office area, a run-in shed, a training track, and an additional building for feed storage. If you’re looking for a horse property that you can come in and call home, Wind Drift is the mansion for you!
If you’re tried selling your home in the past, you’ll already know that the process is not always smooth and easy, but there are some easy things you can do to help sell your home fast. Here are 6 ways to sell your home quickly.
6 Ways to Sell Your Home Quickly
1. Hire A REALTOR® & Avoid FSBO
Instead of spending your time trying to market your own home on Zillow and other real estate websites, hire an agent with an extensive background in marketing to local and out-of-area buyers. Your REALTOR® will be able to place your home in the MLS to allow other members to see that your home is on the market. Agents will be able to send your home and all the info to their buyers, which will help result in increased exposure of your home.
Don’t let your agent stop there, though. Any REALTOR® can place a listing in the MLS, but only a good agent will have a true and unique marketing plan for your home. Be sure your agent is marketing your home in front of buyers.
Once you have an agent who is focused on marketing and exposing your home to buyers and agents, you’ll need to be sure that agents can bring their clients to your home when buyers are ready to look. If your agent prices your home correctly, your home should generate a good amount of hype when it’s first listed, which usually will help sell your home quickly.
The best thing you can do during this time is have your home ready to be shown on a short notice. The easier it is to show, the more agents will be willing to show it. Keep your house clean, inviting, and ready for activity.
3. Curb Appeal
If you’re looking for ways to sell your home quickly and avoiding the topic of curb appeal, it’s time to start shifting your mindset. The first impression a buyer has of your property will make or break your chances of getting it sold. Be sure you have your landscaping in order before the agent/photographer takes pictures of the outside of your home. 95% of buyers now start their home search online, so you have a lot to compete with when it comes to listed homes. Even if the market is hot and inventory is low, your first impressions mean everything.
4. Fix the Little Things
One of the best things you can do to get your home sold quickly is to have the home pre-inspected by a licensed home inspector in the area. They’ll be able to point out most of the objections buyers will have if they go under contract on your home.
Along with having a home inspection done, it’s best to go ahead and fix the issues they point out. Once they’ve been taken care of, have the inspector come out for a re-inspection. Some home inspectors will only charge a small fee for coming back out to re-inspect a property.
Leave the inspection report on the kitchen counter for buyers to look at when they tour the home. This will give them confidence that they are purchasing a solid home.
5. Price is Everything
If you only take one point away from this list of 6 ways to sell your home quickly, let it be this one. In real estate, price is everything. If you want to sell your home fast, your first step should be making sure it’s priced correctly. Most people have sentimental value with their homes, and because of that, they often value their homes 10 to 15 percent higher than the actual value. If you list at market value, your home will sell much quicker, and you won’t have to keep dropping the price.
When you price a home correctly, you avoid the house sitting on the market and getting a negative stigma attached to it. Instead of dropping the price every couple of months, price it correctly on the front end. You’ll avoid having to drop it below market value just to get it sold.
6. Have A Plan
When you’re looking to sell your home fast in any market, you need to be sure you have a plan. Make sure you know where your next home will be and what price range it will be in. You don’t need to have the exact home picked up and ready, but you do need to know what’s next. When a good offer comes in, you’ll feel more confident with your decision to accept/counter/reject and are less likely to regret your choice later down the road. Having a plan is an absolute must, and we think it’s an extremely valuable tip to have on our list of 6 ways to sell your home quickly.
